Description

The Elephant Pop Ring was created by VAK to create awareness of the need for conservation efforts to protect elephants and their endangered African habitat. The Elephant Pop ring’s beguiling yin-yang design is symbolic of the interdependence of the natural world.

Protecting elephants from poachers is a cause close to the heart of VAK’s founder and creative director Vishal Kothari. Across Africa, as well as in Kothari’s home country of India, the elephant is revered as a symbol of wisdom and good luck. Designing a piece for this initiative by Space for Giants, was, thus, a great labour of love for him.

This artisanal, one-of-a-kind handcrafted ring, dazzles with Mozambican non-heated rubies, which were sourced by Freeman Gem Lab and specially cut for the piece. These two 5.8-carat rubies are a metaphor for the blood of elephants that’s too often lost to poachers, with the rubies giving the appearance of evolving from an elephant’s head to its tusks. The centre rose-cut diamonds are symbolic of the elephant’s eyes.
